This walking tour takes in six venues in central Worthing. Please take care when crossing roads.

About the Tour

Welcome to our tour of Worthing's finest pubs! This route balances traditional history, modern craft brewing, and excellent seafront views.

1. The Brooksteed, Micro-Pub Excellence

We'll begin our journey at The Brooksteed, a true gem located just north of Worthing Station.

  • Vibe: A classic micro-pub with interesting decor and a friendly atmosphere.
  • The Beer: A fantastic selection featuring gravity-poured beers from their dedicated cool room, alongside a variety of keg lines.
  • Need to Know: They are Untappd Verified, so you can easily check their live beer list online before you arrive.
  • Seating: Ample seating is available both outside, at the front and in the back garden.

2. The Hare and Hounds, A Historical Cornerstone

Our second stop is a step back in time at The Hare and Hounds.

  • History: This venue has been a pillar of the community, serving as a traditional pub since 1814.
  • Offering: They consistently offer five traditional cask ales and a menu of food, making it the perfect spot for a quick bite.

3. Anchored,Worthing's Micro-Pub Pioneer

Next up is Anchored, which holds the prestigious title of being the first micro-pub in Worthing.

  • The Drinks: They always feature a curated selection of three real ales and three ciders, plus a great range of Sussex wines, spirits, and light snacks.
  • Note: The pub has relocated from its original spot but maintains its pioneering spirit and cosy feel.

4. The Goose, Craft Beer by the Sea

We head to the seafront for our fourth stop, The Goose.

  • Location: Situated right on Worthing Seafront, this is the place for spectacular views.
  • The Beer: A dynamic and ever-changing selection of craft beers, all served on keg.
  • Viewpoint: Be sure to grab an outside seat to enjoy your beer while looking out over the pier and the beach.

5. The Tasting Rooms, The Home of Meraki Brewing

This stop is essential for lovers of local craft! The Tasting Rooms is the official taproom for Meraki Brewing.

  • Availability: They are open from Thursday through Sunday.
  • On Tap: Expect six dedicated keg lines featuring their latest brews
  • Takeaway: You can stock up on their beer from the fridge for takeaway.
  • Future Plans: Keep an eye out—they plan to move the actual brewery onto the site!

6. The Three Fishes, A Wetherspoons with Cask Ale Commitment

Our final destination is The Three Fishes, the local Wetherspoons pub.

  • Why Visit?: While part of a chain, the manager here has made a great effort to ensure an impressive range of well-kept cask ales.
  • Quality Guarantee: The beer is consistently held in great condition, making it a reliable and excellent final stop to sample a wide variety of guest beers.

Tour Directions

Venue One: The Brooksteed, 38 South Farm Road, BN14 7AE

(Walking time 4 minutes from Train Station)

If starting from Worthing Train Station:

  • Exit the train station from the ticket office
  • Turn right onto Railway Approach then right onto Cross Street.
  • At the end of the road, turn right onto South Farm Road and cross the level crossing.
  • Continue on South Farm Road. The Brooksteed is on the right hand side of the road.

Venue Two: The Hare & Hounds, 79-81 Portland Road, BN11 1QG

(Walking time 15 minutes)

  • Exit The Brooksteed and turn left.
  • Follow South Farm Road. Cross the level crossing and continue to the roundabout.
  • Turn left into Teville Road. Use the pedestrian crossing to cross the road.
  • Continue on Teville Road then take the third right hand turn (Christchurch Road).
  • At the end of Christchurch Road turn left onto Richmond Road.
  • Use the pedestrian crossing to cross Richmond Road. Then take the first right hand turn (Portland Road). Continue down Portland Road.
  • The Hare & Hounds is located on the right hand side..

Venue Three: Anchored in Worthing, 14 Montague Place, BN11 3BG

(Walking time 4 minutes)

  • Exit The Hare & Hounds and turn right.
  • Continue down Portland Road. Take care when crossing Shelley Road. Then continue on Portland Road, which includes the pedestrianised area
  • At the end of Portland Road (Opposite Marks & Spencers), turn left onto Montague Street.
  • Take the first right hand turn onto Montague Place.
  • Anchored in Worthing is on the right hand side near to the seafront.

Venue Four: The Goose, 18A Marine Parade, BN11 3PT

(Walking time 5 minutes)

  • Exit Anchored in Worthing and turn right. Continue to the end of the road. Cross Montague Place and continue along Marine Parade.
  • At the Pier roundabout, continue along Marine Parade by crossing over South Street.
  • The Goose is along Marine Parade on the left hand side, just after the Dome Cinema

Venue Five: The Tasting Room, Unit 8 Stanford Square, Warwick Street, BN11 3EZ

(Walking time 5 minutes)

  • Exit The Goose and turn left.
  • Continue on Marine Parade then take the first left turn onto The Steyne.
  • Continue down The Steyne. Take the first left turn onto Warwick Street.
  • The Tasting Room is located within Stanford Square which is located on the left hand side of Warwick Street.

Venue Six: The Three Fishes, 56 Chapel Road, BN11 1BE

(Walking time 4 minutes)

  • Exit The Tasting Room and Stanford Square.
  • Turn left onto Warwick Street and continue along the street to Chapel Road.
  • Turn right onto Chapel Road
  • Continue along Chapel Road. The Three Fishes is located on the right hand side.

Finish

At the last stop you have the option to walk back to the station by turning right, or you can walk down to the seafront and pick up buses for the way home.
