There are plenty of opportunities to volunteer at Worthing Beer Festival. From planning, to setting up to working at the festival.
Below are some of the various roles that you can volunteer for:
Setting Up
Setup (Carrying)
All of the equipment and casks are delivered to the venue. This role involves lifting the stillage and equipment to the venue, as well as building the stillage for the casks to sit on. We have a cask lifter to raise the casks up to height
Lifting / Carrying
Setup (Checking In)
Each of the Casks, Kegs and Ciders need checking into the venue and labelling before they are put on the stillage. Role involves meeting each delivery from the various couriers and breweries. Volunteers can lift the casks from the delivery
Administration / Waiting
Setup (Venue)
Before the Stillage can be built the flooring needs to be taped down. This task does not require lifting but laying out and following a plan
Kneeling / Taping
Setup (Tables & Chairs)
When the Stillage is built and the bars are setup then there are the tables and chairs to layout
Lifting / Carrying
Setup (Programmes and Posters)
Once the tables and chairs are sorted then there is a need to layout the posters and stuff the programmes with the beer of the festival entry forms

Setup (Glass Washing)
All of the glasses need running through the dishwasher prior to being used at the festival

During The Festival
Front Of House
Welcome visitors to the festival, direct them to the ticketing area, and help with general enquiries. You'll be the first friendly face people see when they arrive.
Standing / Customer Service
Ticketing / Wristbands
Check tickets at the door, verify Id's if needed , and issue wristbands to attendees. Ensure smooth entry to the festival and handle any ticketing queries.
Standing / Administration
Membership
Promote CAMRA membership to festival attendees, process new memberships, and give out the tokens for members. A great role for those who enjoy talking to people about real ale.
Seated / Customer Service
Bar Staff
Serve beer, cider and other drinks to festival attendees. You'll learn about the different beers on offer and help customers choose their drinks. Training provided.
Standing / Pouring
Post Festival
Cask Emptying
Empty any remaining beer from the casks and prepare them for collection by the breweries. Involves tilting casks and draining liquid.
Lifting / Tilting
Packdown
Disassemble the stillage, take down the bars, and pack away all the festival equipment ready for storage or return.
Lifting / Carrying
Cleaning
Clean the venue, wipe down surfaces, mop floors, and ensure the space is left in good condition for handover.
Light Work / Cleaning
Loading Equipment
Load the stillage, bars, and other equipment onto vehicles for transport back to storage. Teamwork makes light work.
Lifting / Carrying
Removing Signs
Take down all festival signage, posters, and banners from around the venue and surrounding area. Pack away for next year or dispose of as needed.
